/ ABOUT THE PROJECT
For ‘ESPEJO’, A Solo Exhibition by Elianel Clinton, I led the overall art direction, graphic and layout design for the gallery exhibit, OOH marketing and photo book. The gallery exhibit and photo book was featured on WeTransfer / WePresent and KEH Camera.
Developed over the course of four years, ESPEJO is a photographic work tracing identity across distance, memory, and return. Centering mainland Puerto Rican subjects photographed throughout the island, the work places portraits in dialogue with archival family photographs and hand-written journal entries to explore belonging, migration, and self-definition across generations.
By photographing Puerto Ricans from the mainland within Puerto Rico’s physical and emotional landscapes, ESPEJO challenges the idea that identity and origin are fixed. Instead, the work reflects identity as something continuously shaped through movement, memory, absence, and lived experience.
